TATTOO
AFTERCARE

  • If your artist provides you with Saniderm, you will want to leave the bandage on for 3-5 days. The bandages are waterproof so you can shower with them, however, the edges can be prone to lifting when exposed to sweat so please avoid intense workouts for the first 3 days. If your bandage does begin to lift and your tattoo has become exposed please remove it. If you have excessive plasma build-up and your bandage begins to leak please remove it. If you begin to develop a rash, or small bumps, around the perimeter of the bandage this could mean you have an allergy to the adhesive, please remove it.

When you remove your Saniderm, do so in the shower. The warm water/steam will help to separate the bandage from your skin. Do not rip your bandage off like a bandaid, start at one corner and pull it back slowly, running it under warm water when you need extra help. Once you get the bandage off please gently wash your tattoo with an unscented liquid soap, and dab it dry with clean paper towel.

If you have pets we recommend washing your sheets once your tattoo is no longer covered.

After this, continue to wash your tattoo once a day. Once it begins to scab/dry up you may start applying unscented lotion 2-3x a day. Be sure only to apply a thin layer of lotion, spread any excess off the tattoo. Continue to do this everyday until all dryness/flaking stops. This could take anywhere from 1-2 weeks. Please also be mindful of the types of clothes you are wearing over your tattoo, avoiding clothes that are tight or could cause excessive friction during this phase.

Please do not submerge vour tattoo in water for the first 3 weeks. You can get the tattoo wet (like when showering) but don't let it soak for longer than 15min (like in a bath, or pool).

Please keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight for the first 4 weeks. After this period apply spf 50 to prevent UVB damage.

  • If you have a saniderm allergy or simply do not wish to use it when healing your tattoo please let your artist know. Instead they will provide you with a more temporary bandage that you can keep on for 2-12hrs.

If your bandage begins to fall off please remove it as soon as you can.

If your bandage begins to leak please remove it.

After your bandage has been removed please gently wash your tattoo with an unscented liquid soap, and dab it dry with clean paper towel.
